In Champagne we have had recently “complex years” : especially in 2012 and in 2016 because of the downy mildew or in 2017 with the botrytis. But 2021 harvest will be the one we will keep talking about because of all difficulties we had never faced before in Champagne. Every wine grower has been affected by the extreme climatic conditions of the year. Our teams and our partner wine growers had to work harder than ever to protect the vineyard. 

4 月至 5 月葡萄藤已经开花但气温极低，大约 30% 的收成受到了霜冻的影响。Clos Lanson 克洛斯兰颂单一园也受到了严重的影响，霜冻造成了约 75% 的损失。

Extreme low temperatures were registered from April to May. At this time, buds had already grown. About 30% of the harvest was impacted by the frost. The Clos Lanson was also severely affected and consequently had a loss of around 75% of the harvest. 

5 月中旬暴风雨来袭，大风和冰雹为葡萄园造成了损害，而此时的葡萄藤正处于生长的关键时期。其他罕见的气候事件：兰颂香槟酒庄葡萄的重要来源之一 Trépail 村，在同一周内遭遇两场冰雹袭击，损失惨重。

Mid-May was touched by severe thunderstorms – the wind and hail caused damage in many places in the vineyard – while the vines were already in a critical time in the vegetative cycle. Other rare climate event : the village of Trépail was hit and very affected by two hail storms in the same week, an area particulary appreciated by the House. 

5 月到 7 月下旬，香槟区降雨量很大。从 1 月到 7 月，一些地区的降水量甚至与香槟区往年一整年的降水量持平。

Champagne also received heavy rain from May until late July. From January to July, some areas even registered almost the equivalent of a year of rain in Champagne.

The downy mildew evolved very quickly in the vines due to this wet weather. This year challenged every winegrower and had consequences on their state of mind but they kept on making efforts.

We had to significantly increase the number of berry samplings and tastings in order to determine the harvest dates. The choice of the harvest’s dates is very important, and even more this year because we didn’t have a clear quality perspective. We wanted to reach the perfect level of ripeness while guaranteeing the higher grape’s quality. 

在兰颂的葡萄园里，2021 年采收于 9 月 10 日在巴尔山坡 (Côte des Bar) 开始，10 月 4 日在白丘 (Côte des Blancs) 结束。原本预计采收期会很短，实际上各子产区的采收时间较为分散，总体持续时间也较长。采收量达历史较低值。尽管如此，我们还是对葡萄的质量感到惊喜，特别是平均潜在酒精度为 10 度。

In Lanson’s vineyard, the harvest started in the Côte des Bar on September 10th and we finished on October 4th in Côte des Blancs. We originally expected a short harvest, but it was quite spread out. The yields have been historically low in Champagne. Nevertheless, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the grapes. We got good indicators, in particular an average degree of alcohol at 10. 

首次品尝的结果是充满希望的。葡萄酒香气复杂有趣。我们注意到苹果酸含量较高，2021 年的葡萄酒清爽度将在混酿中发挥重要的作用，尤其在储存酒占比较高的无年份天然型香槟中。艰难的一年结束后，2021 采收季给人留下了深刻的印象。

The first tastings are promising. The wines have an interesting aromatic profile, they are quite sophisticated. However, we notice high malic acid rates. The freshness of the 2021 wines will be very interesting in the blends of brut non-vintage where the percentage of reserve wines will be important. The 2021 harvest will definitely make impression after a difficult wine year.
